DIY Teen Theatre was created to showcase the emerging talents of young performers in Elmhurst and neighboring communities. College and High School aged mentors share their theatre experience with children and teens as together they produce full-scale musicals. Building upon the unique connection between young adults and children, DIY provides hands-on training, leadership opportunities, team-oriented activities, and a comfortable learning environment.

"I love this program! I've done it for three years and it has been amazing." -Kirsten Mose, age 14
DIY offers a Youth Program (grades 3-9) and a HighSchool/College Intensive (grades 10-12 and returning college students). The company was founded in 2009 by a 14-year old girl who decided she wanted to direct her own show. Since that first summer, DIY has grown to include over 60 cast members, musicians, and crew members every production, and strives to train up and coming young actors and actresses, as well as provide opportunities to young instrumentalists and aspiring directors.
